Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has appointed Roman Sklyar as the head of the Presidential Administration, according to a decree published by the presidential press service.
The decree also releases Sklyar from his previous position as First Deputy Prime Minister, a post he had held since January 2022. He replaces Aibek Dadebay, who was dismissed “in connection with his transfer to another job.”
Dadebay had led the Presidential Administration since February 2024. Presidential press secretary Aibek Smadiyarov stated that Dadebay will now engage in socio-political activities.
“Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed sincere gratitude to Aibek Dadebay. As is known, a large-scale political campaign is expected in the country. At this responsible time, on the personal instruction of the head of state, Aibek Arkabayuly will be engaged in socio-political work,” Smadiyarov wrote.
Roman Sklyar was born on May 8, 1971, in Pavlodar. He has previously served as Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development, Deputy Prime Minister, and Acting Prime Minister at various times.
