President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan will visit Astana, Kazakhstan, on April 21–22 for a working trip. During this visit, the head of state will participate in key regional events focused on climate and water issues: the Regional Environmental Summit and the meeting of the Council of Heads of Founder States of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea.
At the meetings, regional leaders will discuss strengthening cooperation to ensure sustainable development in Central Asia. The main focus will be on addressing acute environmental and climate challenges, as well as rational water resource management, which is critically important for all countries in the Aral Sea basin.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev is expected to present Uzbekistan's vision for overcoming current challenges and share practical initiatives to mitigate the effects of climate change. The visit's program also includes a tour of a specialized environmental exhibition, where national pavilions of participating countries will be displayed.
The summits in Astana are set to conclude with the adoption of several strategically important documents. These agreements will solidify mechanisms for regional cooperation in ecology for the coming years, establishing a legal framework for joint actions to save the Aral Sea ecosystem and promote efficient water use.
