️ President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on March 5. The leaders of the two states focused on issues of regional security and humanitarian cooperation amid a sharp escalation of the situation in the Middle East.

️ At the beginning of the conversation, the head of Uzbekistan strongly condemned the attacks by unmanned aerial vehicles on the territory of Azerbaijan. Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed condolences to the victims and wished them a speedy recovery. The parties noted with deep concern that the escalation of tension in the region is leading to numerous casualties among the civilian population.

️ Special emphasis was placed on the fact that acts of violence occurring during the holy month of Ramadan for Muslims grossly contradict universal human values and fundamental international norms. The leaders stressed the importance of respecting the principles of territorial integrity of states and the inadmissibility of further fueling the conflict, which undermines the foundations of global security.

️ An important topic of the conversation was cooperation on the protection of citizens. Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed sincere gratitude to Ilham Aliyev for prompt assistance and creating the necessary conditions for the safe evacuation of Uzbek citizens from Iran via transit through Azerbaijani territory. The President of Azerbaijan thanked his Uzbek counterpart for friendly support and a timely call confirming the high level of strategic partnership between the countries in difficult times.

️ It is recalled that earlier, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov held a telephone conversation with the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov and expressed serious concern over Iranian drone attacks on Nakhchivan.
