The ancient city of Bukhara hosted the opening of the Second Asian Women's Forum, to which President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent a welcoming message. The head of state emphasized that the choice of venue was not accidental: Bukhara, with its rich history, has been a cradle of science and culture for centuries, where a unique dialogue of civilizations took place.
The address noted that Asian countries are not only geographical neighbors but also partners united by common spiritual and cultural values. The president highlighted that women, who make up about half of the region's five billion population, are today a powerful creative force. Their active participation in society directly influences the development of states, growth of well-being, and promotion of the ideals of a just world.
Speaking about the domestic situation, Shavkat Mirziyoyev singled out the protection of women's rights and interests as a priority of Uzbekistan's state policy. The foundation for these transformations was the updated Constitution and the "Uzbekistan – 2030" Strategy, which strengthened the base for ensuring gender equality.
Thanks to the implementation of these systemic measures, the republic achieved significant indicators in various spheres of public life. In particular, women's representation in the public administration system increased to 35%, while in the business environment their share reached 37%, and in the ranks of political parties it amounted to 49%. These successes allowed Uzbekistan to rank 35th among 193 states in the prestigious international rating "Women in Parliament." In addition, special attention is paid to economic opportunities: only during 2025, 2.6 million women received state assistance in employment matters.
The message also outlined new development vectors, among which digital literacy and the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies to support women's initiatives occupy a key place. In addition to technological progress, the president called for not forgetting the preservation of traditional family values.
"Tomorrow the International Day of Families will be widely celebrated around the world. In recent years, the preservation of family values and traditions, which are a strong pillar of society in Eastern countries, has become increasingly relevant. The formation within this forum of a network of scientific institutions in our countries to study the institution of the family and exchange best practices will undoubtedly bring the expected results," Mirziyoyev emphasized.
In conclusion, the head of state expressed firm confidence that the forum in Bukhara will become an effective platform for developing new ideas that will help Asian women more actively participate in decision-making processes at all levels.
