The Ombudsman has taken control of the situation involving an 18-year-old resident of Akhangaran following a video appeal by his mother on social media. The woman claimed that after her son's arrest, he was sent not to a special detention center but to the prosecutor's office, where he was not fed and was denied access to a lawyer.

According to the press service of the Oliy Majlis Commissioner for Human Rights, a control letter was sent to the General Prosecutor's Office on the day the appeal was published. On May 6, the regional representative of the Ombudsman visited the young man at the Special Detention Center for administrative detainees.

During the meeting, it was confirmed that the young man was indeed at the detention center. He stated that meals were provided according to established rules. He had no complaints about the actions of staff or the conditions of detention.

On May 7, the administrative arrest term expired, and the young man was released from the detention center. However, on the same day, he was taken to the investigative department of the Tashkent Regional Prosecutor's Office. This is related to a pre-investigation check into the dissemination of information on social media. The Ombudsman continues to monitor the situation.

Earlier, the young man's mother alleged that torture was used and that new charges were brought against her son on the day he was supposed to be released.
