A meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the results of Uzbekistan's economic development for 2023. Real GDP growth reached 6.5%, exceeding forecast targets.
Industrial production increased by 8.2%, agricultural output by 4.1%, and services by 7.3%. The construction sector posted notable growth of 9.5%.
Foreign trade turnover exceeded $55 billion, with exports reaching $20 billion. Total investment amounted to $30 billion, including $8 billion in foreign direct investment.
The meeting also highlighted that inflation dropped to 8.8% and the budget deficit remained below 4.5% of GDP. Additional measures were outlined to diversify the economy and boost competitiveness.
President Mirziyoyev set specific tasks to deepen economic reforms, strengthen the private sector, and ensure employment. GDP growth is projected to remain at 6-7% in 2024.
