The State Assets Management Agency has announced the re-listing for auction of the building of the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services in Tashkent. The seven-story building is located at the intersection of Abdulla Qodiriy and Abay streets, with a total area of 11,725 square meters and an adjacent land plot of 0.48 hectares. The lot is intended for office and service use in accordance with urban planning documents.
The starting price for the auction is set at 187.2 billion Uzbek soums, with the bidding scheduled for May 15 at 10:00 AM, and installment payment options available. This marks the second attempt to sell the building, as it was previously acquired in December by the company "O‘zshahar qurilish invest" for 182.2 billion soums.
The ownership structure of "O‘zshahar qurilish invest" at the time of the previous sale raises concerns: as of November 26, 2024, 90% of the company was owned by the State Assets Management Agency, with the remaining 10% held by "Qurilish Invest Development." The agency did not respond to inquiries about the company's privatization, highlighting transparency and governance issues in the management of state assets.
The reasons for the building being re-listed remain unclear, fueling questions about inefficiencies and lack of clarity in the disposal of state-owned properties. Earlier reports indicated that the Ministry of Construction plans to relocate to New Tashkent, where it will share a building with the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Water Resources, which could explain the need for sale, but no official explanations have been provided yet.
