First-Grade Enrollment Expanded: Digitalization Reaches 135 Regions

In Uzbekistan, the enrollment process for the first grade in the 2026–2027 academic year has been significantly expanded. The number of districts and cities where enrollment is conducted through state services has increased from 64 to 135, and the number of schools has risen from 1,956 to 5,689. This development highlights the acceleration of digitalization in the education sector across the country.

The enrollment process will be conducted in two stages. Parents and guardians can use the official websites my.gov.uz and my.maktab.uz to register their children. This streamlined approach facilitates application submission, contributing to time and resource savings.

According to legislation, children who turn seven years old in the year of enrollment are admitted to the first grade. For the 2026–2027 academic year, this includes children born before December 31, 2019. This rule clearly defines age criteria within the education system, ensuring that students are age-appropriate.

The expansion of digital platforms is part of efforts to foster innovation in education. However, despite the broad coverage, it is important to consider existing challenges, such as poor internet infrastructure and low digital literacy levels in rural and remote areas.

Overall, these changes aim to modernize the education system and create conveniences for citizens. Yet, to ensure effectiveness in practice, addressing technical and social barriers remains necessary.
