️ Uzbekistan, Tashkent – Podrobno.uz. The State Security Service, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, has disrupted corruption schemes involving the management of farmers' markets in the cities of Karshi and Bukhara. Officials of the market administrations attempted to illegally sell trading spaces that, by law, must be put up for public auction, pursuing personal enrichment goals.
️ In the city of Karshi, the chairman of a farmers' market and a controller entered into a criminal conspiracy to sell a new 110-square-meter shop. For processing the trading point in the name of an entrepreneur while bypassing legal procedures, they demanded $80,000. The suspects were detained by State Security Service officers at the moment of receiving an advance payment of $30,000. A criminal case has been initiated against them under articles for fraud and aiding in bribery, with an investigation underway.
️ A similar offense was identified in Bukhara, where the head of a wholesale agricultural products market and his manager came under investigation. The accomplices promised to allocate a 120-square-meter land plot to a citizen for the construction of a shop made of light structures. Their illegal activity was halted upon receiving $11,000. Regarding this fact, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 168 of the Criminal Code (Fraud).
️ Law enforcement agencies are calling on citizens to remain vigilant and report such extortion cases via the State Security Service's short number 1520. The state guarantees full anonymity to individuals who provide information about corruption crimes. Inspections at markets across the country are continuing to ensure transparency in the allocation of trading spaces.
