️ President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan has approved measures through a decree on March 3 to enhance the protection of women's and children's rights and prevent cases of pressure and violence against them.
️ The decree sets a goal to achieve 100% coverage of free training for couples entering marriage at special courses under family and women's centers by 2030.
️ Starting April 1, women with protection orders will have the "SOS" mobile app installed on their communication devices, enabling immediate reporting of pressure incidents.
️ From this year, internal affairs bodies will conduct mandatory outpatient psychiatric examinations for individuals who commit violence if there are grounds to suspect mental illness.
️ Effective November 1, pre-investigation checks and preliminary investigations under six articles of the Criminal Code will be conducted solely by prosecutor's offices before criminal cases are initiated.
️ The decree mandates the preparation of a draft law within three months to establish penalties for crimes committed by previously convicted individuals for offenses against the sexual freedom of minors.
️ The Administrative Responsibility Code envisions strengthened sanctions for acts of a lewd sexual nature.
️ Starting January 1, 2027, the investigation and review of crimes related to pressure and violence against women and children will generally be carried out by investigators with specialized training.
