The press service of the courts of Andijan Region announced that the criminal case against former head of the Furkat District Department of Internal Affairs, Akmal Khojaev, and his deputy, Jasur Rasulov, has been reviewed by the cassation instance of the Andijan Regional Court.
The cassation ruling upheld the previous verdict against Khojaev and Rasulov without changes. This verdict was issued by the Kuva District Court on November 28, 2025, finding them guilty under articles of the Criminal Code: clause "b" of part 2 of Article 141-3 (disclosure of information discrediting honor and dignity), Article 142 (violation of inviolability of the home), part 1 of Article 206 (excess of authority or official powers), part 1 of Article 230-2 (falsification of results of operational-search activities), and Article 234 (illegal detention or arrest).
The court sentenced them to 4 years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to work in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as in state enterprises, institutions, and organizations in positions involving financial responsibility for a period of 3 years. The parties have the right to appeal the court decisions in the supervisory instance.
This case is viewed as part of Uzbekistan's state policy to control the activities of law enforcement agencies and combat corruption, although the effectiveness of judicial processes and punitive measures is regularly debated by the public.
