At its session on April 21, Uzbekistan's Legislative Chamber considered proposals to expand the territories of Qiziriq District in Surkhandarya Region and Zarafshon City in Navoi Region. According to the chamber's press service, these changes aim to stimulate economic and social development in the areas.
In Surkhandarya Region, 4,740 hectares of land from Jarqo‘rg‘on District are planned to be transferred to Qiziriq District. The chamber's report states that this move will improve district management, enhance living conditions for 4,230 residents, and boost livestock development. The boundary adjustments were discussed in local citizen assemblies, district and regional councils, with cartographic maps approved.
In Navoi Region, 2,459 hectares of land from Tomdi District will be incorporated into Zarafshon City. The report notes that long-term plans include implementing over 250 industrial projects, constructing 90 social facilities, and establishing more than 500 trade and service points in the area. The boundary changes were similarly reviewed and approved through local discussions and council meetings.
Deputies approved draft resolutions on these matters. The adjustments are designed to optimize administrative structures and promote regional development, with implementation to be monitored going forward.
