The President of Uzbekistan has signed a decree "On Measures to Develop the Machine-Building Industry in the Samarkand Region." The Ministry of Justice officially announced this through media channels. The document designates the diversification of the regional economy and the development of the machine-building sector as priority tasks.
According to the decree, by 2030, the share of the machine-building industry in Samarkand's industrial output is planned to reach 15%, while the share of added value in industry is targeted at 40%. To achieve these goals, measures will be implemented to create and develop a machine-building cluster in the region.
Under the plan, production capacities for manufacturing 10,000 units of commercial vehicles annually will be established in the machine-building industrial zone. The product range will include trucks, buses, minibuses, pickups, and special-purpose vehicles, including electric transport.
A special machine-building industrial zone will be organized on a 100-hectare land plot in the Kattakurgan district. Enterprises registered in this zone will be limited to those producing vehicles of categories N, M2, M3, O, and L, as well as spare parts and components for them.
The zone's activities will be managed by the state institution "Directorate for the Management of Industrial Zones of the Samarkand Region." The decree is expected to serve the diversification of industry, expansion of the machine-building network, and creation of new production capacities in the Samarkand Region, though the implementation of these extensive plans may require significant investments and technological upgrades.
