The Tashkent city administration has announced a comprehensive renovation of Sayilgokh Street, popularly known as “Broadway,” along with its adjacent park and walking zones. The decision follows an analysis of the area’s current condition, which revealed worn-out pavement, outdated lighting, and a lack of barrier-free access, making the city’s main pedestrian artery inconvenient for residents.

As part of the upgrade, the pavement will be completely replaced, fountains repaired, and new benches with modern lighting installed. These changes are part of the implementation of a Unified Design Code: chaotic advertising and illegal structures will be dismantled, and retail outlets will be brought up to a common aesthetic and sanitary standard.

To maintain order and safety, the renovated space will be equipped with video surveillance systems. At the same time, specialists are surveying the existing green fund to preserve old trees, and at least 1,000 new saplings and ornamental shrubs will be planted.

The administration assured that the large-scale reconstruction will not change the traditional character of Broadway: street artists and musicians will remain part of the space, but will continue their activities in more comfortable and well-maintained conditions.
