President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received an Austrian delegation led by Federal Minister for European and International Affairs Beate Meinl-Reisinger and Federal Minister of the Interior Gerhard Karner on May 7.

During the meeting, the sides discussed ways to intensify practical cooperation and topical issues on the international agenda. The central theme of the dialogue was strengthening economic partnership.

It was noted that trade turnover between the countries has tripled in recent years. Currently, joint projects are being actively implemented in strategic areas such as the chemical industry, agriculture, healthcare, banking and finance, and mountain tourism.

An important stage of the visit was a joint business forum, which resulted in the signing of agreements on taxation, diplomatic service, and labor migration regulation. The parties emphasized the effectiveness of the Intergovernmental Commission and expressed readiness to establish a systematic dialogue at the highest level to further increase investments.

Special attention during the negotiations was paid to regional security issues. Given modern challenges, the leader of Uzbekistan and representatives of the Austrian government agreed on a constant exchange of information in the fight against cybercrime, terrorism, drug trafficking, and human trafficking.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the importance of expanding cultural and educational exchanges was emphasized, which contribute to strengthening humanitarian ties between the peoples of the two countries.
